Big Sword Energy is my entry into the GMTK Game Jam 2024 with the theme of the game jam being “Built to Scale”. The game was built within 96 hours and can be played on the browser here at itch.io

The game is a top-down 2D game where you absorb the essence of the enemies you defeat, increasing the size of the sword you carry.

Character Design & Animation

Character designs and sprite animations made in Adobe Fresco. The designs of the characters were created using rounded shapes to make them endearing and convey the juxtaposition against the themes present within the game. This game ranked within the top 4% of game entries in terms of style/design.

The background and assets, created in Adobe Fresco, are all kept simple and cohesive to be used in a game that makes use of procedural generation to place the tiles in the game world.

I created the UI of the game using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. There are screens for each of the different game states (menu, win, lose, death).

Revenge of Gladis is my entry into the GMTK Game Jam 2023 with the theme of the game jam being “Roles Reversed”. The game was built within 48 hours and can be played on the browser here at itch.io

Gameplay

You play as an Orca named Gladis that eats fish in order to increase in size and, once big enough, can attack the boat of fisherman to exact it’s revenge.

Character design and sprites made in Procreate. I used a simple painterly style throughout to ensure consistency. I kept the palette bright for all the designs other than Gladis, so that the black and white colourway of the protagonist stands out.
